community outreach

More than 300 incoming Mount St. Mary's College freshmen spent four days of orientation in July learning about one of the College's hallmark purposes: reaching out to the community.

 

Catholic rock band to perform at
World Youth Day

Members of the local Catholic rock band "Rise" will be among thousands of pilgrims in Cologne, Germany, for World Youth Day festivities Aug. 14-21. Bandmates since 1999 when they met while involved in the RCIA process at Incarnation Church in Glendale, the Catholic rock musicians will perform Aug. 17 in Bonn Marktplatz from 3-4 p.m.

Women's legacy honored at Dolores Mission
The legacy women have received from older generations of women and the heritage they hope to give to the next generation was explored at the annual summer women's conference at Dolores Mission School.

Girl Scouts garner bronze award
Girl Scout Troop 327, made up of students from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and St. Raymond School in Downey, earned the Bronze Award in July.

 
 

St. Mary prepares for 100th anniversary Aug. 20
On Aug. 20, St. Mary of the Assumption Church will celebrate its parish centennial with a Mass and buffet luncheon in Santa Maria.
