The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will celebrate its tenth anniversary with special events on September 1 and 2.

‘Celebration of Cultures,’ Marian Procession set at Cathedral
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles will celebrate its vibrant and diverse ethnic communities and honor its patroness in separate events on Sept. 8 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
At 9:45 a.m., Archbishop José Gomez will be the principal celebrant at the annual “Celebration of Cultures” Mass that highlights the extensive cultural diversity of the archdiocese. This year’s Mass theme is “Rooted in Christ: Firm in the Faith.”
Coordinated by the Office of Ethnic Ministry, the Mass is open to all who are encouraged to attend in cultural attire representing their heritage. For information, call (213) 637-7356.
In the afternoon, the second annual Grand Marian Procession and Votive Mass in honor of Our Lady of the Angels will begin at Queen of Angels Church (La Placita) near Olvera Street. The 3 p.m. procession through downtown Los Angeles to the Cathedral commemorates the founding of El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles in September 1781.
The procession is scheduled to arrive at the Cathedral at 4 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 4:30, Mass at 5:30 and reception in Plaza at 6:45. The event is coordinated by the Queen of Angels Foundation; for information, call (213) 687-2645 or visit www.thequeenofangels.com.
