Vida Nueva receives 8 NAHP Awards

Vida Nueva, the monthly Spanish-language publication of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, received eight José Martí Publishing Awards at the National Association of Hispanic Publications’ annual convention held Oct. 19-22 in Las Vegas.

 

The honors included two gold (first place) awards for Outstanding Less Than Weekly Newspaper and Outstanding Black & White Photo by editor Victor Aleman. Aleman also received a silver award for Outstanding Community Photo, and bronze awards for Outstanding Cultural Photo and Outstanding Cultural Photo Essay.

Writer Alicia Morandi earned two awards: silver for Outstanding Political article and bronze for Outstanding Immigration article. Production manager José Velasquez received two design awards in the Tabloid (above 30,000 circulation) categories: silver for Outstanding Front Page Design and bronze for Outstanding Newspaper Design.

The Martí Awards, presented by the NAHP since 1989, are the most comprehensive Hispanic media awards in the nation.
