After she spreads it on the single bed, the volunteer asks, “Is that enough, or do you want another one?”

Some dozen Native Americans along with Auxiliary Bishops Edward Clark, Gabino Zavala and Alexander Salazar, Father Tom Schweitzer and Archbishop José Gomez were gathered around Kuruvunga Springs next to University High School in West Los Angeles. The sacred site was once a thriving Tongva village made up of tule-thatched houses called “kichas.”
