A new book by the archdiocesan superintendent of elementary schools invites school leaders to re-imagine how Catholic schools operate.“Changing the Ending” by Dr. Kevin Baxter provided the basis for his well-attended professional development session on educational administration at this year’s National Catholic Education Association’s convention based on key points from his new book, published by the NCEA.

At age 50, St. John Fisher Church engages its 3,200 families in numerous outreach ministries.It is 5 p.m. the first Wednesday of June, and Kent Buechs, his wife Stella and their 17-year-old daughter Monika are moving quickly in a small kitchen featuring commercial appliances. One parent checks if the water in two big pans is already boiling; the other opens cartons of sour cream, bags of pasta and ground beef; and the young girl takes care of the sweet corn. Beef stroganoff over pasta with sweet corn on the side is the dish of the day, plus a bun and a chocolate chip cookie.
