CRS seeks to aid Cambodia in economic recovery efforts

Cambodia is slowly working on its economic recovery, promoting tourism and investing in education and agriculture. But the formerly communist country is still struggling with a high percentage of poverty, especially in rural areas, where education and health care are scarce.To support the local community, Catholic Relief Services — which reopened its office in Cambodia in 1992 — is developing a five-year strategy focusing on family healthcare and education, according to Kellie Hynes, CRS’ Cambodia office director, who visited Los Angeles in late June on her way to meeting in the agency’s Baltimore headquarters.
