| Five members of the Los Angeles Catholic community who have extensive and distinguished records of service were announced this week as recipients of the 2010 Cardinal's Award.
The honorees, presented at a luncheon held Sept. 29 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood, are:
---Louis Carnevale, parishioner at St. Euphrasia Church, Granada Hills, and co-founder in Carnevale & Lohr, a company that has performed marble and stone work on many churches in the archdiocese.

---Elizabeth Fan, parishioner at St. Denis Church, Diamond Bar, and an active volunteer in many parish and diocesan ministries.
---John McGuire, parishioner at Holy Angels Church, Arcadia, businessman and contributor to numerous educational and religious institutions.
"These men and women are signs and symbols of what it means to live the Gospel message of our Lord Jesus Christ, and outstanding examples of faith and dedication," said Cardinal Roger Mahony.
The 21st annual Cardinal's Awards Dinner, to be held next Feb. 6 at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood, will again benefit educational programs and ongoing renovation at Blessed Sacrament School in Hollywood. The 2010 honorees bring to 104 the number of men and women honored with the award. Since 1990, more than $7 million has been raised to support more than 70 schools, parishes, charities or relief efforts in all pastoral regions of the archdiocese. In recent years, archdiocesan and lay leaders involved with the annual dinner have focused on raising funds for early childhood education at low-income parishes.
