Transfiguration Church revival: Jan. 18-20
Transfiguration Church in South Los Angeles will host its Annual Revival Jan. 18-20 at 7 p.m. Franciscan Father James Goode will conduct the three-day revival and "bring much needed faith and healings through the Word of God to our community," said Father Richard Martini, pastor. "As a nationally recognized African-American evangelist, his participation during the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday is ideal." Father Goode has preached more than 300 Black Catholic Revivals nationwide. He also is the pastoral leader of Solid Ground Ministry for Black families headquartered in New York City. The Jan. 19 session will focus on issues dealing with teens and young adults. Jan. 20 will emphasize healing, and conclude with a revival liturgy. Refreshments will be served in the parish hall following each session. Transfiguration Church is located at 2515 W. Martin Luther King Blvd. For more information, call (323) 291-1136.
