Ministry fair draws record-breaking crowd in Northridge
Nearly 1,100 members of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Northridge turned out Nov. 10-11 for this year's expanded ministry fair, centered on the theme "God's Well Tended Flock." Following each weekend Mass, parishioners processed to the hall for a festive and informative event showcasing "stewardship in action" parish ministries.

As one of the parishes in the archdiocese participating in the Growing Stewards initiative this fall, OLL made its annual ministry fair a "destination" stewardship event with food, games, prize drawings and fellowship. Participants received a "sheep" sticker for every ministry booth visit; those collecting 15 stickers could redeem them for a grand prize drawing ticket.

Many of the attendees signed up to share their time and talent in one or more of the ministries, thereby experiencing stewardship for themselves. "It was uplifting, inspiring and rewarding to see so many parishioners showing solidarity and support for our parish lay ministry leaders," said Msgr. Peter Moran, pastor.

Alemany HS sets record in Thanksgiving food drive
Members of Alemany High School's faculty sort canned goods the week before Thanksgiving. The school's annual food drive set records, netting enough grocery and financial donations from students, parents and staff to provide a Thanksgiving dinner and one week's worth of provisions to 61 needy families in the North San Fernando Valley. According to Bob Warren, campus Christian service director, the recipient families "were most grateful for Alemany's kindness and care."
