Cathedral hosts art exhibits

"The S-Word: The State of 'spirituality' in Contemporary Art" is currently being presented by the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels' Fine Arts Committee in the Cathedral Arts Chapel.

It includes the works of ten artists: Lynn Aldrich, Sandow Birk, Rob Clayton, Einer & Jamex de la Torre, Daniel M. Diaz, John Frame, Laura Lasworth, Ruth Weisberg, and Patty Wickman. Curated by Professor Ron Steen of The Judson Studios, it runs through Aug. 24.

On Sept. 8, the Cathedral --- in conjunction with its five-year anniversary --- will host "Looking Back/Moving Forward," with work by the original Cathedral artists: Lita Albuquerque, Regula & Douglas Campbell, Johnny Bear Contreras, Max DeMoss, Lalo Garcia, Robert Graham, Marirose Jelicich, Hakob Jambazian, Frank Martinez, John Nava, M.L. Snowden, John August Swanson, Simon Toparovsky, and Jefferson Tortorelli. The exhibit will be throughout the Cathedral Chapels through Jan. 4, 2008.
