Five dozen to be ordained deacons for Santa Barbara parishes

Some 60 men who have completed a formation process in the Santa Barbara Region will be ordained to the permanent diaconate June 16.

The men, representing parishes from throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, will be ordained by Cardinal Roger Mahony during an afternoon liturgy at Santa Barbara City College.

Next week, The Tidings will feature photos of the men, their wives and their ordination Mass. The new deacons are:

Anselmo Aguirre, Genaro Aispuro, Mark Banda, Henry Barajas, Jr., John Barry, Michael Betliskey, Raul Blanco, Luis Cabello, Rodolfo Cabello, Gregory Calderon, Ricardo Copon, Jr., Gilberto Fermin, Louis Fernandez, Fernando Flores and José Gallardo.
