The archdiocesan Restorative Justice Victims' Ministry is participating in the third annual "Run for Victims' Rights 2007" April 1, a fundraising event sponsored by the City of Los Angeles for all area non-profit organizations that provide services to victims of crime.
"The Run for Victims' Rights is an opportunity for us to raise funds for our program and give us visibility in the community," said Elo Carrillo, coordinator of victims ministry in the Office of Restorative Justice.
The event at Point Fermin Park, San Pedro, will include a 5K Run-Walk, prizes, T-shirts, entertainment and refreshments. Participants are asked to encourage monetary pledges from family, friends, neighbors and coworkers to support victims' rights programs.
Runners and pledgers may choose to sponsor a victim/survivor family or simply make a donation. Registration fees are $20 for adults, and $10 for those 18 and under or 65 and older. Online or mail registrations will be accepted through March 26.
On-site registration will be available April 1, 6:30-7:30 a.m. at Point Fermin Park, 807 Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro.
