| Fr. Frank John Infuhr, former associate pastor, dies
Funeral Mass will be held Dec. 15, 11 a.m., at the Holy Redeemer Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City for Father Frank John Infuhr, 86, who died Dec. 8. The retired priest spent nearly 30 years serving as an associate pastor at Sacred Heart Church in Altadena in two different assignments during the 1960s, '70s and '80s.
Born in St. Louis in 1920, he attended William Cullen McBride High School directed by the Brothers of Mary in St. Louis. He entered the Los Angeles Junior Seminary in 1941 and completed his philosophical and theological training at St. John's Seminary, Camarillo, in 1949. His first assignment was at St. Anthony in San Gabriel as associate pastor.
Father Infuhr also served as associate pastor at St. Aloysius Gonzaga, Los Angeles; St. Leo, Los Angeles; Mary Star of the Sea, San Pedro: San Buenaventura Mission, Ventura; Our Lady of Rufuge, Long Beach; St. Catherine Laboure, Torrance, St. Lucy, Long Beach; and Sacred Heart in Altadena in 1959-67 and 1968-88.
Following retirement, he lived at St. John of God Retirement and Care Center in Los Angeles. He is survived by his brother, Ted Infuhr, of Thousand Oaks.
Sr. Blanche Dufault, SP
Funeral Mass was held Dec. 8 at St. Joseph Residence, Seattle, for Sister of Providence Blanche Dufault (Sister Denise of Providence) who died Dec. 4 at the age of 91.
Born in White Swan, Wash., the fifth of six children, she moved with her family to Moxee City, Wash., because it had a Catholic school system. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1933 and did some post-graduate work in science at St. Joseph Academy in Yakima before entering the Sisters of Providence in Seattle in 1934.
During her long teaching career, during which she earned her Master's degree in Education from Seattle University in 1955, she taught in California, Oregon and Washington. Sr. Rita Bernard Brady, CSC
Funeral Mass was held Nov. 7 at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Notre Dame, Indiana, for Holy Cross Sister Rita Bernard Brady, (Maria Adelle) who died on Nov. 4 at Saint Mary's Convent in Notre Dame.
A native of Appleton, Wisc., she entered the community from Sacramento, and began her teaching ministry in Colusa, Calif. She taught elementary school for nearly 40 years in California, Idaho and Utah. Locally, she taught at Beverly Hills Catholic School (1941-42, 1948-53) and St. Paul School in Los Angeles (1942-44).
From 1986-92, Sister Rita Bernard performed volunteer service to the community at Saint Catherine by the Sea in Ventura. Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, 401 Bertrand Hall, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Indiana.
Sr. Mary Evangelista Herber, SP
Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 6 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, for Sister of Providence Mary Evangelista (Elizabeth) Herber, 103, who died Nov. 1.
Born in Allen County, Indiana, she entered the Sisters of Providence in 1922. During her 84 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered as a teacher for 61 years, including nine years at Annunciation, Brazil. Locally, she taught at St. Elisabeth in Van Nuys from 1930-31 and St. Therese in Alhambra from 1931-32.
Sr. Macrina Conlon, OP
Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 24 at Queen of the Rosary Chapel in Sinsinawa, Wisc., for Dominican Sister Macrina Conlon, who died Oct. 21.
A native of Cuba City, Wisc., she entered the Sinsinawa Dominicans in 1934. She ministered as an elementary teacher and principal for 46 years, serving in California, Illinois, New York, Texas and Wisconsin. In the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Sister Conlon taught and was the principal at All Saints School, El Serreno, from 1959-65.

Sr. Mary Rose Gonzalez, OP
Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 8 at the Monastery of the Angels chapel in Los Angeles for Dominican Sister Mary Rose Gonzalez, who died Nov. 4. Sister Gonzalez made her profession in the contemplative Dominican order on Nov. 21, 1951. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
Jack Fleming
Funeral Mass was held Dec. 9 at Santa Clara Mission on the campus of the University of Santa Clara for Jack F. Fleming, who died Dec. 7. He was the brother of Msgr. Terrance Fleming, pastor of St. Brendan Church in Los Angeles. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Brendan's on Dec. 12.
Anna Parish
Funeral Mass was held Dec. 11 at Mary Star of the Sea Church in Oxnard for Anna Parish, who died Dec. 6 after a long illness. She was the wife of Deacon Hal Parish, who works in the archdiocesan Tribunal Office, and the mother of Father John Parish, pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Francis Fitzpatrick
Funeral Mass was held Dec. 7 at SS. Felicitas and Perpetua Church in San Marino for Francis Fitzpatrick, 89, who died Dec. 2 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the father of Father Paul Fitzpatrick, administrator of SS. Felicitas and Perpetua Church. |
