8 prep football teams unbeaten after first month of play

With one month of action under their belts, Catholic high school football teams are preparing for the beginning of league play later this month.

Some are also looking to continue their undefeated ways as October action commences this weekend. Cantwell-Sacred Heart's Cardinals are 5-0, with a host of others - Alemany, Mater Dei, Notre Dame, St. Francis, St. John Bosco, Santa Clara and Santa Margarita - at 4-0.

Following are a rundown of this week's games and a recap of last week's action, as well as an alphabetically-arranged listing of teams and their current records. The teams will be organized by league when league play kicks off the week of Oct. 13.
