Edith Keese
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated April 28, 10:30
a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church in North Hills for Edith
Keese, 94, who died April 20. The mother of Father John Keese,
pastor of Our Lady of Peace Church, she lived a life dedicated
to family, church and service. Interment will take place at
Resurrection Cemetery, Montebello.
Dr. William Parnassus
Funeral Mass was held April 19 at St. Victor Church in West
Hollywood for Dr. William Parnassus, 81, who died April 10.
A longtime member of St. Victor parish, Dr. Parnassus was
the brother of Msgr. George Parnassus, pastor emeritus of
St. Victor Church. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Patricia Ryan Irwin
Funeral Mass was held April 8 for Patricia Ryan Irwin, 76,
who died April 2 at St. John of God on the anniversary of
the death of her beloved Pope John Paul II.
A daily communicant, Irwin was a member of the Third Order of Franciscans and recently helped her oldest daughter Noel Irwin Hentschel (profiled in the April 14 Tidings) open a mission run by Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity in Rosarito, Baja, to care for homeless AIDS patients.
Survivors include daughters Noel, Valerie, Lisa, Pamela and Carole; 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorial donations benefiting impoverished homeless people in Los Angeles may be sent to The Noel Foundation, 6053 W. Century Blvd., Suite 7, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
Marjorie Mabie Hegener
Funeral Mass was held March 22 at Our Lady of the Assumption
Church in Claremont for Marjorie Mabie Hegener, who died Feb.
27. Hegener and her late husband, Joseph, were founding members
of Corpus Christi Church in Pacific Palisades.
A
member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre and a
Dame in the Knights of Malta, Hegener's life was guided by
the motto: "Faith, Family and Friends Forever." In 2002, she
was honored with the "Spiritus" award by The Social Service
Auxiliary for her many years of charitable work aiding the
Sisters of Social Service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
