Looking ahead: March for Life,
Divine Mercy workshop

A two-mile walk celebrating the sanctity of life will be held March 11 from 8-10:30 a.m. beginning at St. John de la Salle Church in Granada Hills. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Van Nuys Council 3148, the event is expected to draw approximately 500 walkers from 10 San Fernando Valley parishes.

The majority of funds will go to the Pregnancy Counseling Center in Van Nuys to help women in crisis pregnancies while participating churches will receive a stipend for parish ministries. Weekend workshop
The public is invited to a free Divine Mercy workshop on Feb. 25-26 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at St. Bernard parish hall, 2500 West Avenue 33 in Los Angeles. The event is open to anyone interested in learning about God's healing mercy and love. Talks will focus on the role of the Eucharist, reconciliation, trust, humility, mercy and obedience to God's will in the spirituality of Divine Mercy.

Speakers include Father Rodel Balagtas, pastor of Immaculate Heart in Los Angeles; Father Joe Shea, pastor of Holy Family in Glendale; Father Gerald McSorley, pastor of St. Bernard in Los Angeles; Father Paul Hruby, pastor of Incarnation in Glendale, and Father Marco Ortiz, administrator of Divine Savior in Los Angeles. Annie Karto, a liturgical song writer from Florida, is also scheduled to appear.
