Liturgical music composer and theologian Bob Hurd will perform two benefit concerts in Southern California parishes Feb. 17 and 18.

On Feb. 17, Hurd and the group Anawim, with whom he made several of his initial recordings in the 1980s (and again in 2002 with "Holy Is the Temple"), will perform at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lakeside, in the San Diego Diocese. The 7:30 p.m. performance will benefit Father Joe's Villages/St. Vincent de Paul. Suggested donation is $10, $30 per family; for information, call (619) 729-6205.

On Feb. 18, 7: 30 p.m., "Bob Hurd and Friends" will be featured in concert at St. Jerome Church, 5550 Thornburn Ave. in Westchester, with proceeds to benefit the ministries of St. Camillus Pastoral Care Center in Boyle Heights. Suggested donation is $12, $8 for seniors and students; for information, call (323) 225-4461.

Hurd, who received his Ph.D. from de Paul University, has served as a professor of theology at the Franciscan School of Theology, Berkeley; the Graduate Pastoral Ministries Program at Santa Clara University; and St. Patrick Seminary, Menlo Park. His recordings include "Pan de Vida," "Alleluia! Give the Glory" and "Behold the Cross."
