Concert to aid hurricane victims set at Cathedral

A concert to benefit those affected by Hurricane Katrina will be held Oct. 23 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

The 4:30-6 p.m. concert will feature local choirs and dance ensembles, including many who perform at the annual Religious Education Congress, under the direction of John Flaherty, who has directed the Congress choir for the past 15 years.

Among the groups will be choirs from St. Agatha and Transfiguration, Los Angeles; St. Monica, Santa Monica; and Our Lady of Lourdes, Northridge, as well as members of the Congress choir.

A freewill offering will be taken to assist the continued recovery and rebuilding efforts in the Gulf States. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is located at 55 W. Temple St., Los Angeles. For information, call (213) 680-5200.

Additionally, the Los Angeles Master Chorale will perform a Katrina relief concert at the Cathedral on Oct. 16, 7 p.m., with tickets priced at $20 for adults and $10 for children. For information call (213) 972-7282.
