Vocation committees planned for Vietnamese communities

Cardinal Roger Mahony met earlier this week with Vietnamese priests of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to address the promotion of vocations. Currently, the cardinal said, there are 14 Vietnamese Catholic communities in the Archdiocese, with about 10,000 Vietnamese Catholics represented in those Communities. "The goal," he explained, "is to establish an active Vocation Committee in each of the Vietnamese Catholic Communities, and to pray for and promote vocations to the priesthood and religious life." Father Hung Tran, associate pastor at St. Mary Church in Palmdale, will serve as the Vocations' Liaison with the other Vietnamese priests and the Vietnamese Community.
