Baby donations needed for newborns

text only version

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of Los Angeles is seeking new baby items during its seventh-annual "Layette" project. Badly needed items include: clothing, blankets, diapers, car seats, strollers as well as cribs and crib accessories. Cash donations are also welcomed and will help the Los Angeles Council purchase these items.

The event helps mothers in extreme need who have given birth to a child on the same day the Society's volunteers - called Vincentians - visit the maternity ward. The date this year is Sept. 27, when a group of volunteers will come to UCLA-Harbor Medical Center in Torrance to meet with new mothers and distribute baby items for their newborns.

To donate baby items or for more information, call Suzanne Mingleton at (323) 753-4188 or Frances Mitchell at (310) 830-5294. Donation deadline is Sept. 25. All donations are tax deductible.

Financial gifts, earmarked "Layette Project 2005," should be sent to: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of L.A.; 210 N. Ave. 21; Los Angeles, CA 90031.
