Bach to Broadway at St. Andrew Church

San Gabriel Regional News
text only version

The diverse strains of Bach, Puccini as well as Rogers and Hammerstein will fill the air Sept. 9 at St. Andrew Church in Pasadena for the annual benefit concert for the ongoing restoration of the 78-year-old building.

Stephen Grimm, direction of Pasadena Pro Musica, will host the 12th annual Back to Broadway concert that will be staged inside the historic, Romanesque-styled church. The diverse range of music will be performed by Los Angeles Opera artists mezzo soprano Suzanna Guzman and bass baritone Cedirc Berry along with soprano Laura De Surra Grimm and Pasadena's Crown City Vocal Ensemble.

Featuring an Italian theme, festivities will continue with an alfresco reception outside the church where audience members will enjoy light refreshments and get a chance to mingle with the musicians.

Built in 1927, St. Andrew is a National Heritage Building and is modeled after both the Basilica Santa Sabina and Santa Maria del Cosmedin in Rome.

Tickets are $30. For more information call (626) 792-4183.
