Incoming freshmen experience
community outreach

Our Lady of the Angels Region
text only version

More than 300 incoming Mount St. Mary's College freshmen spent four days of orientation in July learning about one of the College's hallmark purposes: reaching out to the community.

From July 10 to 13, new students entering the Chalon Campus cleaned up a Los Angeles County beach, volunteered at a Santa Monica Police Department after-school program, and helped children from St. Vincent School near the Doheny Campus in downtown Los Angeles do crafts. From July 24 to 27, new students to the Doheny Campus did similar activities.

The goal is to highlight opportunities to volunteer in the community to prepare them to help others as part of their experiences at the college. Hundreds of Mount students each year contribute their skills throughout Southern California mentoring younger children and helping neighborhoods that are the most in need.
