Playground built for Mother of Sorrows School

Volunteers from Mother of Sorrows School in South Los Angeles and their "sister" parish, St. Jerome Church in Westchester, will build a playground for the school July 16.

During the Community Playground Build Day, volunteers will install playground equipment and plant trees. Ongoing plans include playground surfacing so that kindergarteners don't just have asphalt on which to play. Child friendly art displayed in murals and a mosaic of tiles painted by students and friends will be installed on benches. The committee hopes to provide fence covering to provide protection to students from the street.

The Mother of Sorrows Playground Committee has been raising funds to renovate, remodel and beautify the playground facilities. St Jerome parish and school families are assisting with the fundraising. Donations have also been made by the Carrie Estelle Doheny Foundation and by Inglewood realtor Jerome McAlpin.
