Sacred Heart School takes
top mathlete prizes

Sacred Heart School in Lancaster made a first-place sweep in each of the junior high team mathlete competitions it entered in the small school category at the 17th annual Antelope Valley Junior High Mathletes Tournament recently held at Palmdale High School. In another mathlete "coup," Sacred Heart eighth grade contestant Meghan McRae was named recipient of the Chuck Stoll Award, receiving $250 for the highest individual cumulative score for three years. Over 500 students from 20 public and private schools participated in the competition.

First place team winners for eighth grade included: Anne Marie Bessacini (6th place individual), Brent Chapman, Meghan McRae (4th place individual), Jordan Rush, and Nicole Semana. Seventh grade team winners were: Sam Harbison (tie 1st place individual), Carissa Hayes (2nd place individual), Tommy Mallick (tie 1st place individual), Alyssia Plata and Dustin York. Sixth grade team winners included Melissa Bauer, Camille Becker, Chris Bonfilio, Lucio Celeste (1st place individual), and Stephen Pincetich.
