Providence HS announces media
student award winners

Providence High School in Burbank held its 2004-05 media student showcase awards May 21 honoring top achievements in writing, acting, directing, editing and producing. Students' work showcased included short films, animated shorts, video public service announcements, commercials and documentaries.

Winners were announced in the following categories: Carly DeFrancesco, Jennifer Jones, Chantal Koulloukian, Mary Sinclair and Sandra Vega received The People's Choice Award for "But You Didn't;" Alex Knopper took the award for Best Video Announcement for "Welcome Back;" Michael Chewning, Kathryn James-Jolly, Rena Pompa and Andrew Ros received the award for Best Music Video for "Cusum Perfici;" and Jaimee Estreller, Lisa Manirath, Richard Manirath and Michael Valentine took Best Editing honors for "Theme Day."

Other category winners were Eric Tuazon, Best Director for "The Valentine;" Laura Muellner, Best Performance for "I Want to Break Free;" Michael Chewning, Joseph Gopez, Kathryn James-Jolly and Rena Pompa receiving Best Commercial Award for "Down The Drain;" Nicolas Estrada, Best Animation Award for "Smile;" Rita Ayala, Abbigail Briones, Shamus Ryan and James Volfango receiving Best Comedy honors for "H20;" and Ryan Bartolome, Nicolette DeLong, Alex Knopper, Lauren Suedekamp and Adam Vitello receiving Best Documentary Award for "Desensitizing."
