St. James the Less plans 50th

San Fernando Region
text only version

Former parishioners and over 300 parish school alumni will be among those attending 50th anniversary festivities at St. James the Less Church in La Crescenta June 10-12. "The response has been amazing," said Msgr. Robert Gipson, pastor. Several parish families are hosting class reunions in their homes June 10 while members of the most recent graduating classes will meet in the church hall.

On June 11, an adults-only anniversary dinner dance will be held in the hall, which will feature '50s décor in honor of the church's founding in 1955. A Thanksgiving Mass concelebrated by Cardinal Roger Mahony, San Fernando Region Auxiliary Bishop Gerald Wilkerson and past and present clergy will be held June 12 at 2 p.m. followed by a BBQ in the parking lot.

"We're looking forward to this with great thanksgiving to God for all the blessings of the last 50 years, and we hope to rekindle old friendships," said Msgr. Gipson. Those planning to attend the Saturday dinner or Sunday BBQ are encouraged to make reservations at the rectory office, (818) 248-3442, by June 11.
