Honoring its Golden Jubilee, the parish community of St. Bridget of Sweden Church in Van Nuys celebrated a Mass with Cardinal Roger Mahony June 5.

During the ceremony, the cardinal reflected on a half-century of Catholic life in the San Fernando Valley, including past activities and accomplishments of St. Bridget of Sweden parish. In addition, he provided insights on the future of the church in the 21st century in light of the recent election of Pope Benedict XVI.
