Simi Knights plan Chili Cook-Off
and Car Show

The Knights of Columbus, Simi Valley Council #5803 are presenting their 18th annual Chili Cook-Off and Car Show June 12 at St. Rose of Lima School in Simi Valley. The event proceeds will assist the Simi Knights of Columbus in their charitable work

Cooks in this International Chili Society-sanctioned event will compete for the coveted Best Chili award plus cash prizes, with the first place winner eligible to compete in the World's Championship Chili Cook-Off regional semi-finals later this summer. Chili cooking will commence at noon with judging at 4 p.m.

The Car Show will feature 15 categories for classic, custom, street rods, muscle, sport, trucks and special interest vehicles. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to all category winners, including Best of Show. Entrance fee is $25 up to the day of the show, with entry limited to 100 vehicles. Awards will be presented around 2:30 pm.

Also featured will be a number of rides, live entertainment, arts and crafts and food. Last year more than 4,000 people attended.

St. Rose of Lima School is located behind St. Rose of Lima Church at 1305 Royal Ave. The occasion is open to the public from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children (6-12) and chili taste tickets are 50 cents each. Overflow parking is permitted across the street at Royal High School. For information, call (805) 526-7960.
