Four Sisters of Providence of Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods who previously ministered in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles recently celebrated their diamond Jubilee during a Mass celebrated Dec. 8 at the motherhouse in Indiana.
Sister Ruth Eileen Dwyer, a native of Chicago, taught at St. Anthony School, Gardena (1951-53), and St. Therese School, Alhambra (1953-55). She currently ministers as an adjunct professor of theology at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor's degree in business, received a master's degree in theology from St. Xavier University and a doctorate in ministry from St. Mary of the Lake University.
Sister Mildred Giesler, a native of Jasper, Ind., taught at St. Joseph School, Hawthorne (1958-59) and currently ministers as a member of the Residential Services staff and as a volunteer in the Office of Congregational Advancement at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor's degree in education, received a master's degree in education from Indiana State University and a master's degree in religious studies from the University of Seattle.
Sister Ann Jeanette Gootee, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., taught at St. Ambrose School, West Hollywood (1958-62). She is currently a minister of care at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor's degree in music, received a master's degree in music history from Butler University and a master's degree in social work from St. Louis University.
Sister Ann Clement Voegerl, a native of St. Anthony, Ind., worker as a cook at the Marywood School in Anaheim from 1960-1964. Sister Voegerl currently ministers in prayer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. |
