The Louisville High School mock trial team from Woodland Hills was named winner of the Los Angeles County Mock Trail Championship Nov. 30, beating out over 60 other high school team competitors.
The team will represent L.A. County in the state championship competition slated for next March. A state championship winner in 1993, Louisville has won county championships in 1992, 1994, 1998, 2000 and 2004.
This year's mock trial case involved a fictional defendant charged with vehicular manslaughter due to the death of a teenager during an illegal drag race. "Eyewitnesses" and "expert witnesses" testified for both the prosecution and defense as to whether or not a drag race had actually taken place. Louisville's team consisted of attorneys Jackie Hubbell, Nora Martin, Katie McCulloch, Monica Mueller and Molly Tormey and witnesses Shanise Owens, Devon Orme, Amanda Cassel, Bianca Batti, Jacqueline Cerniglia, Lauren Schaubert, Amanda Muir and Alex Simoni. |
