'Faith Perspective on Immigration' to be offered at Holy Family

"Embracing the Stranger: A Faith Perspective on Immigration" will be presented at Holy Family Church on Wednesday evenings beginning Jan. 12. Sponsored by the parish ministries of adult education, community services and social concerns, the talks include:

---"Immigrant Journeys: Stories of Faith, Hope and Fear," Jan. 12, with San Gabriel Region Auxiliary Bishop Gabino Zavala and 2003 Pulitzer Prize winner Sonia Nazario, Los Angeles Times staff writer.

---"Lady Liberty and the Law: A History of U.S. Immigration and Reform Efforts," Jan. 19 with Niels Frenzen, USC Immigration Clinic director; L.A. County Sheriff Leon D. Baca; and Antonia Hernandez, California Community Foundation president.

---"Alien Lands: Immigrant Challenges in America," Jan. 26 with Ana Amalia Molina of Jesuit Refugee Services and author ("The Power of Love"); Angelica Salas, executive director, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles; and Stewart Kwoh, executive director, Asian Pacific American Legal

---"Reaching Out: Catholic Responses to Migrant Needs," Feb. 2 with Claretian Father Richard Estrada, executive director of Jovenes Inc., and Jesuit Father Michael Kennedy, pastor of Dolores Mission Church, Boyle Heights.
