To round out the month of All Souls, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will present an Evening Prayer and Choral Concert on Nov. 21 at 4 p.m., part of an active end-of-the-year program of music and entertainment.
Joined by the Cathedral Choir under the direction of Frank Brownstead, Msgr. Kevin Kostelnik, Cathedral pastor, will preside over the Evening Prayer service. Immediately following Evening Prayer, the Cathedral Choir will present Gabriel Fauré's "Requiem," accompanied by Samuel S. Soria, organist; Jennifer Duke, harp; and Steve Scharf, violin, with soloists Lauren Flahive (soprano), Nicholas Probst (baritone) and Julian Fieldler (bass).
This event is free but a freewill offering is gladly accepted to support the work of the music program at the cathedral.
On Dec. 18, a 7:30 p.m. performance by the Los Angeles Children's Chorus will highlight a Family Christmas Festival at the cathedral. The musical portion also will feature guest performances by local school choirs (noon-6 p.m.). Those who wish to participate are invited to contact Tiffany Russo at the Cathedral, (213) 680-5275 or trusso@olacathedral.org no later than Nov. 19.
