Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Downey recently held a "Reading Under the Stars" night on campus, the first in a series of informal readings and fellowship for students, parents and faculty at the school.
Downey Mayor Kirk Cartozian read Dr Seuss' "The Places You'll Go" to the gathering. Readers also included Our Lady of Perpetual Help pastor Mark Warnstedt, principal Steffani McMains, teacher Becky Gibson and sixth-grade student Elisabeth Davis.
Also in September, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School held a school-wide tribute to commemorate those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
Students, staff and faculty honored the victims by planting a mulberry tree in front of the campus and holding a memorial word service. Members of the Downey Fire and Police departments joined the school community in the memorial. |
