The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary are offering monthly information afternoons to women who may be interested in joining a religious community.
Scheduled Nov. 14 and Dec. 12, the "Three D's: Discernment, Discussion and Dinner" offers a comfortable arena for women to learn more about religious life, says Holy Names Sister Cheryl Milner. "We invite women to our community home in Pasadena." The Holy Names Sisters have served in numerous parishes and schools in the archdiocese over the years; among them, St. Elizabeth Church in Altadena, St. Andrew Church in Pasadena and Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra.
Scheduled 3-7 p.m., the afternoon begins with outlining the journey of discernment, followed by discussions about religious vows and various ministries that can be found within the community. The afternoon ends with a communal early dinner and prayer time.
"We like to think of it as an informal afternoon of prayer and discussion," says Sister Milner who invites women of all ages to attend. For more information, call (626) 296-1892. |
