Tardeada fundraiser for Guadalupe procession set Nov. 7 in East L.A.

San Gabriel Region
text only version

The Committee of the United Guadalupanos, the group that coordinates the Virgen de Guadalupe Procession at East Los Angeles College in December, will hold a fundraising Tardeada (dinner) on Nov. 7, 2-7 p.m. at Resurrection Church in East Los Angeles.

"The Virgen de Guadalupe Procession is an annual religious event that dates back to the 1930s," noted Msgr. John Moretta, pastor of resurrection. "As the oldest religious celebration in Los Angeles, it has become part of our culture. We are hoping ticket sales for the Tardeada will provide us with enough funds for the procession."

Tickets are $10 for the dinner. La Carreta Restaurante is providing the dinner, with proceeds benefiting the fundraising effort. Resurrection Church is located at 3340 Opal St., East Los Angeles; for information, call (562) 858-5040.
