Social Justice Ministry Resources

The following are internet resources for Catholic peace and justice ministries.

U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops (www.usccb.org): The U.S. bishops offer links to Catholic teaching on social and political issues, including "Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility."

Catholic Campaign for Human Development (www.usccb.org/cchd): This domestic, anti-poverty, social justice program addresses root causes of poverty by supporting community-controlled self-help organizations.

Network (www.networklobby.org): This registered Catholic lobby in Washington presses for economic and social justice.

Pax Christi USA (www.paxchristiusa.org): Part of an international Catholic peace organization, the group articulates and witnesses the call of Christian non-violence.

JustFaith (www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/justfaith/): JustFaith is a multi-faceted study program designed to empower and expand parish commitment to social justice.

California Catholic Conference (www.cacatholic.org): The California Catholic Conference is the official voice of the Catholic community in California's public policy arena.

Jericho (www.jerichoforjustice.org): Jericho engages the California interfaith community in shaping state public policy affecting low-income families.

Office of Justice and Peace (http://ojp.la-archdiocese.org/): This office of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles educates Southern Californians on the principles of Catholic social teaching and its contemporary application and advocates for public policy.

Office of Restorative Justice/Detention Ministry (http://detention.la-archdiocese.org/): This archdiocesan office serves victims of crime as well as the incarcerated and the families of both with a vision towards restoration and reconciliation.

Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace (ICUJP, http://www.icujp.org/home.shtml): ICUJP supports the peace work of Los Angeles faith leaders from Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Buddhist and other faith traditions.
