Maria Shriver among guests at hospital dedication

First Lady of California Maria Shriver and Sister of Charity of Leavenworth Marie Madeleine Shonka celebrated in Santa Monica along with hundreds of Saint John's Health Center's supporters and benefactors who attended the dedication of the hospital's new North Pavilion inpatient facility Oct. 7. Shriver, who gave birth to all of her children at Saint John's, was on hand to view the baby nursery named in her honor. Services at the 150-room inpatient facility include critical care, labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care and general surgery. Patients will be admitted to the 200,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art medical facility within the next few weeks. In addition to Bruce Lamoureux, Saint John's Heath Center's CEO, and other hospital officials, guests attending the dedication included State Senator Sheila Kuehl, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslovsky and Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom.
