'Exploring health care issues' series planned at American Martyrs

American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach is holding a three-part program exploring the traditions of Catholic moral teachings as they apply to health care and the delivery of health care services by Catholic institutions.

The 90-minute sessions begin on Oct. 14 with "Health Care at the Beginning of Life." It is followed by, "Health Care at the End of Life" on Nov. 11 and, "Health Care and the Demands of Social Justice" on Dec. 9.

The sessions will be lead by David Blake, vice president of missions and ethics and human resources at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica. Blake is a former chair of the Philosophy Department at Loyola Marymount University and a former professor at Loyola Law School.
