The Zonta Club of Burbank Area recently announced that Providence Sister Lucille Dean, retiring principal of Providence High School, has been named "Burbank Woman of the Year 2004." She will be the guest of honor at a Nov. 6 luncheon at the Castaway Restaurant and Banquet Hall.
"Sister Lucille has contributed so much to the lives of young people in Burbank," said Grace Farenbaugh, Zonta Club president. "She has built Providence High School into one of the finest and most prominent Catholic high schools in Los Angeles."
Sister Dean began her teaching career in Burbank almost 50 years ago when she accepted her first teaching position at St. Finbar School. Since then, she has spent 25 years at Providence High School, where she has served as principal for the last 18 years. Under her leadership, the school has been designated a National Blue Ribbon school.
