Mount students prepare to 'rock the vote'

Our Lady of the Angels Region
text only version

Mount St. Mary's College is one of five colleges and universities in Southern California named Rock the Vote sites this fall. Others participating in the region are USC, Cal State Northridge, University of LaVerne, and Chapman College.

Students are being assigned to "street teams" to walk neighborhoods and staff booths in front of area retailers registering people to vote and educating the community about important campaign issues.

Other election-related events at the Mount include the Sept. 28 screening of the documentary film "Freedom on My Mind" as part of the College's Human Rights Film Festival. The screening at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater on the Chalon Campus is co-sponsored by the Sociology Department and the Los Angeles office of Human Rights Watch. Voter registration will be available before and after the screening.
