Sarah Valdez, teenage daughter of longtime St. Genevieve Church parishioners Bas and Daisy, showcased her musical talent with the parish during a piano recital Aug. 14 held in Madonna Hall. Valdez, who was born with Down's Syndrome, has been studying the piano for the last seven months.

Valdez' debut piano recital included familiar Catholic liturgical songs, such as "Taste and See" and "One Bread, One Body" as well as popular tunes such as the theme from "Titanic." She is active as a volunteer with the Environmental/Art Committee, which her mother chairs.
