The first Catholic Church established in the Santa Clarita Valley, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a barbecue fiesta Sept. 24-26. Several thousand people from the church and the community are expected to attend the event, which will feature a car show, carnival rides, multi-ethnic foods, nightly entertainment, a silent auction and a special beef barbecue on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
Youth activities will include a rock climbing wall and an arts and crafts booth. Among the raffle prizes are a $4,000 travel voucher, a five-day vacation in Aspen, Colo. (second prize) or a golf weekend. The festivities will be held on Sept. 24 from 6 p.m. to midnight; Sept. 25, 2-11 p.m.; and Sept. 26, 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. For more information, call the church office at (661) 259-2276. |
