Multiple celebration planned at
Our Lady of Sorrows

Four milestone celebrations will be held over a two-week period beginning Sept. 12 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Santa Barbara.

The celebrations include 222 years as a parish; 75 years in the current church building at Anacapa and Solis Streets (near downtown); the 50th jubilee of Jesuit Father Martin Brewer, associate pastor; and the tenth episcopal jubilee of Santa Barbara Region Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Curry. The events include:

---Sept. 12, a children's pancake breakfast will be offered, 8:30-11 a.m.

---Sept. 15, tour and history of the church, 7:15 p.m.

---Sept. 17, concert with the combined choirs and musicians of Our Lady of sorrows, St. Raphael Church in Goleta and Mission Santa Barbara, 7 p.m.

---Sept. 18, the golden jubilee Mass and reception fort Father Brewer, 11 a.m.

---Sept. 19, a parish celebration with Mass and reception, 9 a.m.

---Sept. 26, a Mass of Thanksgiving for volunteers and parish families, 9 a.m., and the Our Lady of Sorrows/Notre Dame School festival, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
