Oxnard parish receives money to help build new church

Santa Barbara Region
text only version

A large donation was presented to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard Aug. 28 to benefit the parish building fund.

Cardinal Roger Mahony presented a check for $500,000 to Missionaries of the Holy Spirit Father Enrique Ramirez, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard, during an evening Mass Aug. 28 at the parish, located in Oxnard's Colonia district. The check represented the proceeds from the 2004 Cardinal's Award Dinner held last February.

Our Lady of Guadalupe has presented to its 6,000 families the plans for a redesigned parish plant that would relocate its school to a different area of its property, with a new and larger church in its place. Currently, weekend Masses are filled to overflowing.
