'Faith, Justice, Elections' workshop
set Aug. 29

An all-day workshop on "Getting Ready to Vote: Faith, Justice and Elections 2004" takes place Aug. 29 at the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary Provincial Center in Montebello, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tom Chabolla, associate director for programs for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development in Washington, D.C. and former director of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' Office of Justice and Peace, will present two sessions. He will explore Catholic social teaching, faithful citizenship and the current debate around the Catholic Church and politics as well as examine the challenges and opportunities facing the electorate in Los Angeles and state-wide.

The day will conclude with a liturgy, with San Gabriel Region Auxiliary Bishop Gabino Zavala presiding.

The RSHM Provincial Center is located at 441 N. Garfield Ave. in Montebello. There is no fee for the workshop, but advance registration is appreciated by calling Zonia at (323) 887-8821. Bring your own lunch. Drinks will be provided.
