Sister celebrates 25 years

A former teacher at St. Anthony School in Gardena recently celebrated her sliver jubilee as a sister of the One Sister of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Wood congregation in Indiana.

Sister Anne Therese Falkenstein taught at St. Anthony School from 1982-87. She currently ministers as an associate professor at Providence University in Shalu, Taiwan.

Sister Falkenstein entered the congregation on Aug. 27, 1979 from St. Polycarp parish in Sommerville, Mass. She professed her perpetual vows July 4, 1991.

Sister Falkenstein received a bachelor's degree in theology and education form Emmanuel College, a master's degree in religious education from Boston University and a master's degree in language education from Indiana University.

The congregation of The Sisters of the Providence has more than 500 women who minister in 20 states, the District of Columbia, Taiwan and China.
