for young moms

San Pedro Region
text only version

The "Little Sisters" mentoring program at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach is looking for people to mentor pregnant or parenting teens.

The mentoring program is designed to bring confidence, high self-esteem and education to pregnant and parenting teen girls through educational rap sessions on issues such as nutrition, child abuse, parenting skills, child safety and STD's. In addition, the program provides social outings such as picnics, holiday parties, movie nights, theme park visits, makeovers and free massages for the girls.

Meetings are held bi-weekly and all services are free. For more information and to sign up to mentor a teenage girl call Maria Angel Macias at (562) 491-9100.

The YWCA of the Harbor area is seeking women 18 and over to act as mentors to girls between the ages of 10 to 14 years old. For information, contact Ebony Williams at (310) 547-0831.
