Holy Redeemer Church installs new Stations of the Cross

San Fernando Regional News

Parishioners and friends of recently rebuilt Holy Redeemer Church in Montrose gathered Aug. 11 for the installation of new Stations of the Cross, designed by internationally renowned sculptor Lynn Kircher, whose work is displayed across the U.S. and the Vatican.

Father John K. Foley, pastor, presided over the ceremony attended by church members, local residents and representatives of L&R Construction, which handled the renovation of the church.

The new Stations of the Cross are 18-by-24-inch bronze plaques with a relief (depth) dimension protruding up to 6 inches. One of only five sets of this "limited edition" Stations of the Cross currently on display in churches throughout the United Stations, it is the only set of its kind that can be seen west of the Rocky Mountains. The molds used to cast the bronze plaques took two years to sculpt, and they are suitable for a total of seven bronze castings before they have to be retired.
