Valley Interfaith Council launches health care program for seniors

San Fernando Region
text only version

The San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council has recently initiated a new program addressing health care issues of seniors. Conducted in partnership with Secure Horizons from PacifiCare, the program includes health care educational workshops, seminars and health screenings for senior adults at local churches.

In addition, a quarterly newsletter, called "Hallelujah HealthBeat" will be published that informs seniors about the programs and services available in their communities. The premiere issue, debuting mid-September, will be available in English and Spanish and can be inserted into each congregation's weekly bulletin.

"The Valley Interfaith Council is committed to helping those elderly members of our congregations access the services and programs that can help meet their health care needs and improve the quality of their golden years," said Barry Smedberg, VIC President. Congregations may sign up to receive free health care seminars and free issues of the health newsletter by calling Eileen Killoren at the Interfaith Council, (818) 718-6460 ex. 3002 or by visiting the VIC website: www.sfvic.org
