Study seeks men with prostate cancer

Our Lady of the Angels Region
text only version

Saint John's Health Center has begun a multi-center research study for men with advanced or aggressive prostate cancer.

The study will look at the use of the anti-cancer drug Taxotere and evaluate its use in conjunction with other prostate cancer therapy: a combination of androgen (hormone) deprivation therapy and a new, state-of-the-art form of radiation therapy.

The American Cancer society estimates that approximately 225,000 cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed each year, with approximately 30,000 annual deaths.

To be considered for the study, men must be over the age of 18, have localized advanced or aggressive prostate cancer and have not received treatment other than androgen suppression.

For more information, contact Saint John's Health Center's Department of Radiation Oncology at (310) 829-8913.
